A 300 dpi Scan

300ppi scan

This Photo Booth print from the 1950's is typically soft-focus. Scanning at a higher resolution does not change that. The display is BIGGER, but not better. No matter how many pixels are contained in the image, it can only be displayed at the screen resolution, usually about 72-75 dpi.

The print was scanned at 300 ppi and saved as a JPG file with 10% compression. The resulting image is 421 pixels wide by 540 pixels high. The file size is 36Kb.
