After a significant period of time, Netscape may develope random file errors. Some of these can be generated by corrupt index files in the email system, others may be due to a corrupt Netscape system file.Netscape Mail Repair
To repair the first, navigate to the user folder for Netscape. It will usually be at C:\Program Files\Netscape\User\<user screen name>\Mail. In that folder are a number of files with the extension of .snm. These are the index files. When you experience a problem with your email, note which folder (if you have more than the inbox) is causing Netscape to crash. It will be this index file that needs to be rebuilt. For example: If Netscape crashes when you go to the Inbox folder, then look for the file INBOX.snm and delete JUST that file. Now close and reopen Netscape mail and click on the inbox. It will rebuild the index file and may clear the problem. This method can be used with any folder that you may have in your mail system.
