Outlook Express - Message Save

Q. How do I save my messages. I have a Folder full of genealogical messages that I need to put on CD.

A. The beauty of this method is that when the message name is clicked on, it opens in OE in exactly
the same way as if it was still in OE folder on hard drive.

Here's how;

1.Click on the Folder you want to save.

2.Click on the first message to highlight it.

3.Scroll down to the last message, hold down Shift key, and click on  last message.

4.Right-click beside highlighted messages and choose 'Forward as Attachment'

N.B. If there are a lot of messages, it is very tough on system  resources so you might have to save only
500 messages or so at a time.

5.A message page will appear, with all the messages named as attachments. Do NOT address or send this
message, instead click on
File, then Save As.

6.I saved my trials to Desktop, from where it can be dragged anywhere, or copied to CD.

7.The messages in OE which you have just saved to Desktop can now be Deleted.

The beauty of the method above is that the messages can be searched by using Edit/Find.

Thanks to Brian for these excellent instructions.
